Our first attempt at a club Matchplay day went pretty well, thanks to Andrew’s meticulous planning of the draw.
Teams were named after the birds of the range – congratulations to the Cockatoos who came out on top, stomping on any laughter from the Kookaburras in the final.
Final placings were:
Cockatoos, kookaburras, wagtails, magpies and wrens.

Thanks to all the helpers – Brad for chef duties, Anne- Maree for photography, Dustin for setting up the range and looking after the beginners. Thanks to all the target movers and packer- uppers and to all the participants for their patience as we worked out a new format.
Club league.
I have allocated points for the matchplay to the club league. I figured the random nature of the team draw and the matchplay format introduces a lot of luck – so I have adjusted the scores so that they don’t overly influence the overall standings. Instead of 100 for the top place I have reduced it to 95; 90 for second and then the minor placings are all between 80 and 90. So all the Cockatoos got 95 league points, down to all the Wrens who received 83.
That way everyone gets a solid score that generally matches or is a little better than their typical scores.
Dustin gets the average of all scores as he spent the day coaching, and so was unable to shoot.
Overall standings are below; there has been no change to the distance standings as we had variable distances this event. Most of the changes are due to archers getting their 5th score- remember it is the best 5 scores out of a possible total of 9 – there are two events to go in October and November, so two more opportunities to put in a score.
