A nice cool day for the club league today. Blaine took home his customary 100 points with a round that included 81 tens ( and no reds!)
So congrats to Blaine, and to Stuart who again took out the short distance with his longbow, and S-me taking the 70 points at 20 m. Andrew is on fire for the recurvers at the moment. Rayan and Dustin had great barebow rounds.
There is one more round to go – the overall score is the sum of your best 5 – so there is one more chance to get a score in.
For those of you wondering how I process the scores into points – I use a fudge factor. For the October shoot I have looked at the male and female state records for the Canberra round for each class – compound, recurve, bare bow and long bow. I average the male and female record for each class, and then I use this as a ratio to adjust our scores. So for example – the state record averaged between male and female for compound is 894; for recurve it is 859. Therefore I reduce the compound scores by a factor of 859/894 = 0.96. ( 4%) . By the same method barebow gets a boost of about 10% and longbow about 15%. The top shooter gets 100 points, and depending how close your adjusted score is to that you get a percentage. In the medium class the top score is 90, 80 for short and 70 for very short.
We can debate whether this method should be changed for next year – its all a bit of an experiment.
